Mehlin Smith

Dr. Mehlin B. Smith, an Oak Forest dentist for 34 years, died at his home in Davis, Ill., on Oct. 28. He was 70. Mehlin was a private pilot who not only flew, but built his own two-seater airplane, a Hatz biplane with a Warner radial engine. He had a hanger at Brodhead, WI where he did his building. It was always to Hatz enthusiasts each year at the annual Hatz fly-in. Mehlin was very generous and was always willing to give rides to anyone who was interested in the Hatz biplane. Mehlin was working on a new airplane at the time of his death. He will be missed by all especially those who came to know him at Brodhead.
