Throttle Quadrant

Post by Dave »

Hi Guys

Anyone built their Throttle Quadrants? If so, do you have a set of plans or notes with dimensions? Looks "do-able" as a composite lamination of flat stock, maybe aluminum and plywood plates, with thick (maybe 1/4 inch) aluminum levers. A starting point would simplify the job. Trying to save some money and have fun building at same time.

Dave are you building a Classic? If so, the plans have the throttle quadrants. If your Classic plans don't have that page, contact Jeff Shoemake @ Makelan and ask him for a copy.

Thanks Doug. I am building a "Classic" but do not remember seeing plans for the throttle quads. Will look again and if not will contact Jeff. Thanks for the info.

When I ordered my plans a few years ago (man, has it been that long already ? :o ) Jeff did not have all the pages completed. He has since updated the plans package and included the missing pages (which includes the page with the throttle quadrants). I'm guessing that if you don't the drawings for the throttle quads, then you are probably missing other ones as well...

Send him an email and tell him what pages you have and he should be able to send you whatever is missing. Use the following email address for him: hatzkit@gvtc.com the other email address on his site is out of date.

Thanks again Doug

I do not have the pages you have referenced and was wondering what else I may be missing.

I tried the address listed on his webb page and the Email came back. Guess I know why now!

Will try the address you just gave me. Building an airplane is tough enough, even when you have all the plans!.

I just wrote Jeff to see if I can acquire the new drawings. Aside from the throttle quadrant drawings, what other drawings has he released in the past 3 years? I have plans number 86. Does someone have a complete listing of all drawings?

On a different note, my top wings are done and I started assembling the bottom wings this week. See my gallery at http://www.thehatz.com.

Scott, use the email address I specified in the above thread. I think the reason so many folks have had a hard time contacting him is because he changed his email address but has not updated his website.

Take a look at your plans and note what pages you have - I'm sure there are some missing ones. I sent Jeff an email stating what pages I had and asked him for whatever might be missing (can't recall the page numbers offhand). He sent me the missing pages within a couple weeks. I'll try to check when I get home.

Doug,

The throttle quadrant drawings are on plans sheet #27. If you are unable to reach Jeff please let me know and I will be happy to make a copy and send it to you. Jeff sent me the latest sheets about 2 years ago upon request and I think I now have a complete set for s/n 041. In total I have 27 plan pages and hope they are complete. Hope this helps some.

Ron's right that there are 27 pages, but actual page count is higher since there "alternates" of a few pages to support the installation of the Rotec R3600.

Doug, I don't have the alternate sheets for the R3600. Can you tell us what they address? They probably reflect an "as built" for NX687HZ and others. It would be interesting to have to complete the plan set that I have.
